Attendance on the Door Supervisor Upskilling course in Rochester, Chatham, Medway, Kent meets the mandatory requirement for all SIA Door supervisor licence holders prior to applying for a new licence.

This Level 2 Award for Upskilling Door Supervisors in Rochester, Medway, Kent, complies with the New SIA requirements with effect January 2015 and consists of 2 Units:

Unit 1 – Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors

Counter Terrorism issues
First Aid situations
Legislation & requirements regarding children and young people.

Unit 2 – Level 2 Physical Intervention Training

The requirement to use non-physical skills as far as possible

The law in relation to “reasonable force” and “self defense”

The value of assessing a situation before intervening

Using Physical Intervention as a last resort

Possible medical implications

The possible legal implications of the techniques

Problem solving

Disengagement techniques

Escorting and guiding skills

Holding skills

How is the course assessed?

Each unit is assessed separately.

Unit 1: Completion of a work book prior to attending the course and a 15 question MCOQ exam.

Unit 2: Practical assessment on the course and a 30 question MCOQ exam.

Pre Course requirements:

1. Copy of your prior certificate or SIA badge before you can sit the exam

2. Provide Proof of English language competency; As a guide, learners should, as a minimum, have language skills equivalent to the following;

  • a B1 level qualification on the Home Office’s list of recognised English tests and qualifications
  • an ESOL qualification at (Level 1) on the Ofqual register taken in England, Wales or Northern Ireland
  • an ESOL qualification at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework level 5 awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and taken in Scotland
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in English
  • SQA Core Skills in Communication at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework level 5

3. One Passport size photograph
