This one day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training course aimed at security personnel and has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the SIA Door Supervisor & Security Guarding Top Up requirements.

If you hold an SIA Door Supervisor license and need to renew it, or are looking to train as a Door Supervisor or Security Guard after 1st October 2021 then the SIA require you to hold an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification or equivalent with at least 12 months until expiry on application for your license.

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course, covers the content as required by the HSE and is delivered with the types of injuries and scenarios in mind that security personnel may have to deal with.

Emergency First Aid at Work – Topic areas covered:

  • Basic Life Support – (CPR) including use of a defibrillator (AED)
  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty
  • Incident, accident and casualty management
  • Primary and Secondary surveys
  • Shock, Controlling bleeds
  • Common work place injuries
  • Common Illnesses

The course includes practical demonstrations and practice periods throughout.

Attendees must be physically fit and able to carryout CPR on a casualty who is on the floor.

Successful completion of the course will result in the award of a First Aid at Work certificate in accordance with the HSE’s requirements, valid for 3 years

Note: The HSE strongly recommends that Emergency First Aiders attend 3hr annual updates.
